Abu Dhabi Theme Park ‘Bigger than Wembley’ is Officially World’s Largest
Abu Dhabi is officially home of the world’s largest indoor marine life theme park.
SeaWorld Yas Island announced its place in the Guinness World Records yesterday, describing its achievement as testament to its “commitment to providing the best possible entertainment experience”.
The park, which also boasts one of the world’s biggest marine life aquariums, spans 183,000 square metres across five levels.
By comparison, Wembley Stadium has 180,000 square metres of internal floor space.
The certificate from Guinness World Records was presented to Mohamed Abdalla Al Zaabi, Group CEO of Miral, the park’s developer, and to SeaWorld senior leadership.
It comes less than a year after the USD$1.2billion attraction, which also houses restaurants and shops, opened last May.
Thomas Kaferle, SeaWorld’s general manager, said: “We are very pleased to receive recognition from Guinness World Records™ as the world’s largest Marine-Life Theme Park.
“This prestigious achievement is a testament to our commitment to providing the best possible entertainment experience, coupled with an interactive educational aspect enabling guests to learn more about marine life in a fun and entertaining setting that engages all ages.”
SeaWorld Yas Island has eight marine environments, known as “immersive realms”, and is the region’s first facility to be certified by Global Humane for the high standard of animal welfare.
Visitors can also take part in 15 interactive experiences and rides, and learn about the animals close-up with one-on-one educational encounters.
The SeaWorld Yas Island team added: “With its newfound record-breaking status, SeaWorld Abu Dhabi reaffirms its position as one of the top global attractions, showcasing the wonders of marine life to visitors from around the world.”
